How To Draw A Squid
How to Draw A Squid with a lovely face
Learn how to draw a squid and see why this strange animal can in fact become the subject of a cool drawing lesson! It's true that a squid is not the sexiest animal on earth. However, it can be a really fun cartoon character to sketch and draw. Let me show you how to create an adorable version of this animal using only a few basic elements.
Before proceeding with this lesson, let me tell you about a few basic differences between a squid and an octopus. Squids are longer and narrower. They also have two long fins on top of the head. Finally, eyes are lower. There are more differences between both animals, but since we are drawing simple characters with almost no details, that's all we need to know for this lesson.
Step 1
Cool! Sketch a long oval shape to form the body. This shape can be similar to the shape of an egg, only longer and narrower. Then, you can add tentacles on the bottom of the original shape.
Step 2
Proceed with the additions of more tentacles of the bottom of the body and head. You can add up to 8 or 10 more tentacles if you want to. Just make sure that the illustration is easy to read.
Step 3
Next, add two large circular shapes to illustrate the eyes. These shapes must be close to each other. Remember to leave lots of room on top near the forehead.
Step 4
Great! Draw two long curved lines on each side of the head to represent the fins. You can also draw two pupils using circles.
Step 5
The mouth is made from a long curved line. Two small oval shapes can be drawn in the pupils to illustrate lighting effects.
Step 6
That's it for this lesson that should help you draw a squid! Below you can see the final illustration without colors.
Remember to study each step carefully and drawing a squid should become easier if you work hard and practice enough!
